Custom Ceramic Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a custom-made cap that fits over your entire tooth, restoring its strength, shape, and appearance. Crowns are used to protect teeth weakened by decay, repair fractures, support teeth with large fillings, and restore teeth following root canal treatment. They can also improve the appearance of misshapen or severely discoloured teeth.

We offer all-ceramic crowns that provide the most natural-looking results. Unlike older porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns where the metal base can show as a dark line at the gum, modern ceramic crowns mimic the translucency of natural tooth enamel throughout. Zirconia crowns, made from zirconium dioxide, are particularly impressive. Often called ceramic steel for their exceptional strength, they resist fracture and chipping while remaining gentle on opposing teeth.

Your crown is designed using digital scanning technology, eliminating the need for messy impressions. This precise approach ensures an accurate fit and allows us to create restorations that blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth. Each crown is individually crafted to match the colour, shape, and contour of your natural smile.

With proper care, porcelain crowns typically last 10 to 15 years, while zirconia crowns can last 15 to 20 years or longer. Longevity depends on good oral hygiene, regular dental check-ups, and avoiding habits like teeth grinding or biting hard objects. If you grind your teeth at night, we may recommend a protective nightguard to extend the life of your restoration.

We offer flexible payment plans to help spread the cost of your treatment.

Why choose us?

Premium Materials

We use only high-quality ceramic materials from trusted dental laboratories. Our zirconia and pressed ceramic crowns offer exceptional strength combined with natural aesthetics. These biocompatible materials are well-tolerated by the body and ideal for patients with metal sensitivities.

Digital Precision

Digital scanning technology captures precise measurements of your teeth without uncomfortable impression trays. This accuracy means your crown fits perfectly from the first placement, with minimal adjustments needed. The result is a restoration that feels natural and functions exactly as it should.

Expert Craftsmanship

Our dentists work closely with skilled ceramists to create crowns that match your natural teeth in every detail. From shade matching to surface texture, every aspect is considered to ensure your restoration is indistinguishable from the teeth around it.

FAQs

With proper care, porcelain crowns typically last 10 to 15 years. Zirconia crowns, which are a type of ceramic, can last 15 to 20 years or longer due to their exceptional strength. Longevity depends on your oral hygiene habits, regular dental visits, and avoiding habits that stress the crown such as grinding or biting hard objects.

Porcelain and zirconia crowns offer superior aesthetics, matching the colour and translucency of natural teeth. They’re also biocompatible and suitable for patients with metal allergies. While metal crowns can be slightly more durable, modern zirconia crowns offer comparable strength with far better appearance, making them the preferred choice for most patients.

Traditional crown placement requires two appointments. At the first visit, we prepare the tooth, take digital scans, and fit a temporary crown. Your permanent crown is then crafted by our laboratory, typically taking one to two weeks. At your second appointment, we remove the temporary and cement your permanent crown in place.

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, so you won’t feel pain during treatment. You may experience some sensitivity after the anaesthetic wears off, particularly if the tooth was already damaged or decayed. This typically settles within a few days. Most patients find the procedure straightforward and comfortable.

Care for your crown as you would your natural teeth. Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, floss around the crown to remove plaque, and attend regular dental check-ups. Avoid biting very hard foods directly on the crown and don’t use your teeth as tools. If you grind your teeth, wearing a nightguard will protect both your crown and natural teeth.
